Accreditation and MQF level
The accreditation status of this programme is a ‘‘Higher Education Programme’’. A CPD Award accredited with 4 ECTS credits (MQF/EQF Level 5) by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) in Remote Gaming Business will be presented to delegates who obtain a minimum pass in the relative assignment.

Entry requirements
The entry requirements for this course are 5 O-Levels including a pass in Mathematics and 2 A-Levels – or –
A minimum of 5 years working experience in Business Administration or within the Gaming Industry
Duration & Mode of Attendance
This part-time course is made up of 8 evening sessions which are spread over a period of 8 weeks as live online webinars.
Course Delivery Mode – Live Webinars
This course will be delivered via live online webinars. The course trainers will be visible on screen via a professional webinar platform through which students can follow the trainer presenting live whilst also using a PowerPoint presentation and sharing other resources as necessary. Students will be able to interact with the trainer by sending questions or comments through the same webinar platform. Our student support team will assist all students with simple instructions on how to access the webinar online. A support line will also be made available to communicate with a student support officer in case of technical difficulties encountered during the live webinar.
All webinars will also be recorded and uploaded on the student online resources portal for future reference during home study. Trainers will also dedicate very regular Q & A times during the webinar to ensure all students can have the chance to ask questions and reach the intended learning objectives. The email and contact details of the trainer will also be made available in case students would wish to get in touch with the trainer throughout the course period.
Short 10 minute breaks will be given during the webinar.

Method of Assessment
At the end of the course, students will be presented with the assignment questions, where students have four or five questions and need to choose three. The total word count for the total assignment is 3,000 words. Students need to submit the assignment as per the submission date on the assignment questions document provided.
Grading: The assignment questions will be corrected and students must achieve a pass mark of at least 50 marks, in order to be given a certification.

Module 1: Remote Gaming Compliance and Regulations (MQF/EQF 5, 1 ECTS)

- Advise on the rules of online gaming regulations in Malta.
- Advise on the specifics of Maltese legislation on online gaming.
- Advise on remote gaming in the EU Internal Market and current developments, together with exposure to relevant case law.
- Advise on the measures taken at EU level with regards to consumer protection in the remote gaming industry.
- Advise on the basics of copyright law and how this applies to software licence and software development agreements.
- Be responsible for the basics of data protection regulation.
- Carry out tasks in compliance with the local regulatory framework on remote gaming, data protection, consumer law and copyright law.
- Carry out tasks related to risk management in view of the EU legal position.
- Advise on elements which should be contained in a software development and software licence agreements in the course of business.

- Advise on Quantitative and Qualitative measures of probability and when to use permutations
- Advise on bookmaking business models and the associated risks.
- Guide team members on what an odd is and who bookmakers are and the risk involved in odds.
- Manage the roles of bookmakers and bookmaking.
- Advise on the strategies that bookmakers adopt in practise.
- Advise on how profitability is attained.
- Advise on the sequence of events that need to take place in order for raw data to be extracted, transformed and loaded for analysis and the way such data should be treated in order for odds to be compiled.
- Advise on the different models adopted by operators in the gaming industry.
- Advise on a number of probabilistic and mathematical concepts such as arbitrage, asymmetric information, combinations and permutations.

Dr. Karl Sammut

Dr. Karl Sammut is a commercial lawyer specialising in business, technology and intellectual property. He is highly sought after by companies operating in the digital economy due to his ability of integrating IP and IT knowledge with commercial and corporate expertise. Dr. Sammut operates in all areas of intellectual property and technology, advising on matters relating to software, hardware, cybersecurity and cloud as well as data protection and privacy matters. He regularly assists companies in complying with privacy matters, particularly those involved in gaming, fintech and the digital economy.
Dr. Vincent Marmara

Dr. Vincent Marmarà is a Statistician and Researcher by profession. He obtained his first degree in Statistics, Operational Research and Mathematics at the University of Malta. He later advanced his studies by obtaining Masters of Science in Statistics at Sheffield University, UK. Furthermore, he has obtained his PhD in Mathematics (Statistics) from the University of Stirling, Scotland. He was entrusted with numerous research projects both at a national and international level. He led research groups and analyzed data to a high-level scientific extent.
Vincent has over 11 years of experience in the Remote Gaming Industry as a Business Intelligence Analyst and Consultant. He occupied several key important roles in various organisations such as: Student Representative of the Faculty Board of Science (University of Malta), President of the Science Student Society, President of the Malta Statistics and Operations Research Organisation (MSTOR), Financial Officer of the National Youth Council, Deputy CEO and Chief Regulatory Officer within the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority.
Dr. Vincent Marmarà lectures statistics at the Department of Management (FEMA) at the University of Malta. Vincent is a fellow member (FRSS) of the Royal Statistical Society (UK). Dr. Marmarà provided research consultancy services to various organisations and supervised / is currently supervising BSc, BCom, MBA and MSc research students at the University of Malta. Vincent published several academic articles on international journals and other scientific surveys in Malta. At present he is one of the partners and co-owner of the statistics research company, Sagalytics.
Edward Cachia

Edward has over 10 years in the online gaming industry and 6 years in banking. He has a proven track record of success in managing risk, fraud, customer support, responsible gambling, AML and payments teams. Edward held multiple managerial positions for both start-up ventures and some of the largest online gaming companies in the world where he has built several risk management frameworks, products, policies, and procedures. He is currently working as the Head of CDD & OPEX for an international gaming company’s interactive division.
