Award in Train the Trainer

The rationale of this course is to develop the competencies of people working already in human resource management (trainers) with the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to assist in the human capital development of the organisation they are working in. Within this context, trainers will be able to conduct their function effectively to develop their own training programme based on their specific needs, and ultimately deliver training efficiently.

Learning Outcomes

  • Design and develop training programmes, formulate training plans and structured training sessions;
  • Deliver training effectively and evaluate training programme and recommend changes for improvement;
  • Identify skills gaps and recognize skills required;
  • Be familiar with different learning styles;
  • Create engaging training programmes which are motivating and goal oriented;
  • Enhance empathy and needs analysis skills to provide constructive feedback to trainees;
  • Create and evaluate training materials and mediums with different levels of experience;
  • Create and establish a checklist of evaluation criteria with valid and measurable outcomes;
  • Build confidence to deliver training to peers and colleagues;
  • Create and deliver motivating and effective workshops.

Accreditation and MQF level

The accreditation status of this programme is a ‘‘Higher Education Programme’’. A CPD Award accredited with 2 ECTS credits (MQF Level 5) by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), the Award in Train the Trainer will be presented to delegates who successfully attend all modules and obtain a minimum pass in the relative assessment (Assignment).

Course Duration

This course is made up of 2 half-day live webinar sessions, from 9:00 till 14:30. A 10-15 minute break will be allowed every hour during which students can also take this opportunity to submit further questions or comments to the trainer.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 2 A Levels and 5 O levels OR a minimum of 3 years’ experience working within office administration (private or public) organisation. No academic entry requirements are required for persons of 23 years of age or more.

Course Delivery Mode – Live Webinars

This course will be delivered via live online webinars.  The course trainers will be visible on screen via a professional webinar platform through which students can follow the trainer presenting live whilst also using a powerpoint presentation and sharing other resources as necessary.  Students will be able to interact with the trainer by sending questions or comments through the same webinar platform.  Our student support team will assist all students with simple instructions on how to access the webinar online.  A support line will also be made available to communicate with a student support officer in case of technical difficulties encountered during the live webinar.

All webinars will also be recorded and uploaded on the student online resources portal for future reference during home study.  Trainers will also dedicate very regular Q & A times during the webinar to ensure all students can have the chance to ask questions and reach the intended learning objectives.  The email and contact details of the trainer will also be made available in case students would wish to get in touch with the trainer throughout the course period.


Mr. Joe Gerada

joe-geradaJoe Gerada is currently a free lance Management Consultant and CIPD trainer. He is also the Chairperson of the Foundation for Social Welfare Services that manages the major Government’s social work agencies. He held CEO positions in a number of State organizations including the ETC, APPOGG and Sedqa as well as senior positions in the private sector namely; CEO of the Foundation for Human Resource Development and was also the first Group HR Manager of Island Hotels Group. He is active in the volunteer sector and is a board member of a number of voluntary organizations.

He holds a Masters’ degree in Mediation from the Istitute Universitaire Kurt Bosh Switzerland, a diploma in Applied Social Studies from the University of Malta and management certificates from Cranfield University UK and the School of management of the University of Singapore. He is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel Development UK and an accredited Management Trainer from CIPD.

Joe Gerada has delivered HR consultancy and training to leading business enterprises in Malta as well as organisations in the public and voluntary sectors. He also delivers training in other countries namely; Austria, Switzerland, UK, Dubai and the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia.
