The learner will be able to:

• understand and outline the related concepts of risk and uncertainty.
• list and understand the different types of risk.
• describe various risk measurement or modelling techniques.
• categorise risks according to probability of occurrence and severity of impact.
• understand the provenance and limitations of risk computations.
• understand the difference between repeated sample outcomes and outcomes from restricted samples.
• understand the differences between situations where ordering makes a difference and those where ordering doesn’t (permutations Vs combinations).
• assess which risk classes and categories require his/her intervention and what risk mitigation techniques exist.

Trainers

Dominic Fisher

An economics graduate, Dominic is a chartered accountant who started his career in external audit with Deloitte Leeds in the UK. Whilst still with Deloitte he branched into internal control and consultancy projects particularly with financial institutions.

Following four years as a freelance consultant specialising in risk management, internal audit and internal controls working for a number of multi-national companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange, in 2008 Dominic was appointed to set up and lead the internal audit department for a UK listed company operating in the insurance sector regulated by the FSA.

In 2011 Dominic relocated to Malta where he rejoined Deloitte. As senior manager within the Enterprise Risk Services Department, Dominic specialises in compliance, internal audit and consultancy projects for local and international clients.
